BIO Urges Administration and Congressional Leaders to Reject GPhA’s Request to Turn Their Backs on Hope for Patients and Consumers

The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) issued a statement in response to a letter recently sent from the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) to the White House requesting the Obama Administration urge Congressional leaders to strike biosimilars provisions from health care reform legislation unless the provisions are "materially altered."

Pacific Rim Summit Will Highlight Production of Renewable Chemicals Through Biotechnology

Renewable chemicals from biomass are emerging as viable alternatives to traditional chemicals. Leaders in the field will present progress and challenges in bringing renewable chemicals to the marketplace at the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) 2009 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy, to be held Nov. 8-11, 2009 in Honolulu.

BIO Releases New Study Showing Industry/University Partnerships Critical to U.S. Economy

A new study by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) provides first-of-its-kind data on the importance of university/industry research and development partnerships to the U.S. economy. The study of university technology licensing from 1996 to 2007 shows a $187 billion dollar positive impact on the U.S. Gross National Product (GNP) and a $457 billion addition to gross industrial output, using very conservative models.
