Position Title: Sales Executive 

Department:   Conventions & Conferences

Reports to: Senior Sales Executive

Primary Purpose of the Position:  

This position will increase exhibit, promotional branding & advertising sales through generation of leads and development and expansion of prospect lists and marketing opportunities, and will plan and conduct marketing campaigns to prospective exhibitors followed up by sales calls. The Sales Executive supports the Senior Sales Executive in handling international and domestic economic development groups and works closely with association membership and business development staff on Branding packages.

The Sales Executive will also work closely with exhibit operations staff to establish space assignment and procedures for the BIO International Convention and other Association events as needed.

The position will be responsible for conducting exhibit sales strategies, building the prospect sales database and conducting outbound sales campaigns.  Position will have responsibility for contributing to sales forecasts and actuals.

Requirements:

  • Exhibit space sales to Individual Exhibitors and include pavilion relationships.
  • Cold Calling to New Prospects as well as Relationship Development with previous clients
  • Conducts sales efforts to develop promotional opportunities program and sales efforts.
  • Contributes to strategic sales plan development and execution working with internal departments.
  • Coordinate prospecting database and sales processes.
  • Research and development needed to expand exhibit space sales prospecting database, and groups/organizations to partner with to expand both exhibit space sales and grow attendance and to keep the BIO Conference fresh and on the cutting edge.
  • Develop, manage and sustain full sales prospect pipelines.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and benchmarks
  • Meet established exhibit space, promotional branding and advertising goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Attend complimentary exhibitions/events for prospecting and establish relationship with current clients
  • Selling of Association Online Advertising as needed

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and knowledge of general integrated sales and marketing principles, demonstrated project and budget management skills.   They will be an enthusiastic, creative self-starter who can multi-task and thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.  They must be highly driven and results-oriented.  They must possess strong oral, written and presentation skills.

  • At least 2 years of proven sales experience preferably exhibit sales experience and working with associations and conventions.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and presentation skills.

  • Must be customer-service focused
  • Ability to work as part of a team and ability to create and alter processes for gained team efficiencies and have excellent project management skills

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Marketing preferred (equivalent experience will be considered); two years of proven sales experience, preferably exhibit sales; experience with trade show operations. Other requirements: excellent interpersonal communications, customer service, and presentation skills; project management and organizational skills; ability to lead a project team. Salary commensurate with experience.
