Amy Finan
Vice President, Corporate Development & Marketing

Self-described biotech junkie and longtime BIO member, Amy Finan joined the BIO staff in October 2004. As vice president, corporate development & marketing, she is responsible for BIO membership and sponsorship and all associated revenue, as well as marketing the organization. She was promoted to vice president in September 2005 after serving briefly as managing director, membership & marketing. Prior to joining BIO, Amy was an active BIO member for over 11 years. From 2001 - 2004, she was director, and then senior director of corporate communications & investor relations, with EntreMed Inc., then a publicly-traded, Phase 2 biotech company. Between 1999 and 2001, Amy was employed with Montgomery County, Maryland, home to over 200 biotech companies. As the director, technology program development, she created and implemented the County’s biotech initiative, which included economic development policies, incubator programs, legislative packages and communication plans. Amy began her life sciences-related career in 1987, when she joined the National Association for Biomedical Research (NABR) as a government relations director and lobbied members of Congress and the Administration on R&D-related issues, with a focus on the humane use of laboratory animals for biomedical research. In the early 1990’s when she was working for NABR, Amy first became involved with BIO and the biotech industry. Having studied at the London School of Economics & Political Science, Amy graduated with a BA in political science from Trinity College in Washington, DC.
