Mr. Bittenbender is Vice President of Alliance Development and State Government Affairs at BIO. Through proactive public policy, BIO supports the growth of companies involved in research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, and industrial and environmental biotechnology products. In his leadership role at BIO, Fritz, has oversight of federal and state advocacy efforts as well as state government relations. Fritz and his team act as BIO’s liaison to patient advocacy organizations, physician and payer groups, state and national business organizations, and state and local elected officials across the country. Fritz also serves as Executive Director of the Council of State Bioscience Associations, which coordinates the efforts of 51autonomous biotechnology organizations located across the continental United States and Puerto Rico. Prior to his tenure at BIO, Fritz served as Vice President of Global Public Affairs at Cephalon and President of the CephalonCares Foundation.
Before joining Cephalon in 2005, Fritz served as President of Pennsylvania Bio, the statewide trade association for the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to his tenure at Pennsylvania Bio, Fritz was Secretary of Administration, the chief operating officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge. Fritz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Fels School of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.
