According to the census bureau, some 46 million Americans lack health insurance, most of them in working families. Current research indicates that the uninsured often delay medical care decreasing their quality of life and shortening their life span. Insuring this population is likely to become a major public policy and political issue in the 110th Congress. BIO is committed to working with other health-care organizations and government agencies to develop workable solutions to the problem.
