Article 15 - Malawi has put in place a regulatory framework for access to genetic
resources.However, the program lacks funding for implementation. Article 16 -The country has developed a working document and partnership with
ARIPO/WIPO to review the Patent Act and to conduct an awareness meeting on
intellectual property rights. Article 19 -With limited resources, the government has been able to come up with
procedures and guidelines on access to genetic resources and draft contractual
agreements addressing the issue of benefit sharing. (Updated May 2001)
