Is my organization eligible for membership?
BIO membership is only available to organizations that promote biotechnology research and support the growth and development of the biotechnology industry. BIO reserves the right to review applications for membership to confirm that the applicants meet BIO's criteria for membership, for the specified categories of membership, consistent with BIO's bylaws, rules and regulations.

How do I become a member?
Your company/organization becomes a member by completing and submitting a membership application. Once we review and approve the application and receive payment, we will notify you that the membership has been approved and provide further details on your benefits.

How much does membership in BIO cost?
BIO has several membership categories and varying membership dues levels - all based on the principal business of the potential member. The membership dues schedule, as well as a description of each membership category, can be found at www.bio.org/join/dues.asp.

How long does membership last?
Membership in BIO is for a 12-month period from the time your membership begins.

Does BIO offer individual memberships?
Membership in BIO is company or organization based; BIO does not offer individual memberships.

Where can I find an application to join BIO?
You can complete a membership application online or print an application and fax or mail back to BIO.

Does BIO offer membership to non-biotech companies?
Yes, BIO's membership structure allows law firms, PR firms, academic institutions, suppliers, nonprofits and other non-biotech companies to join and participate in BIO.

My company is a member of my U.S. state or regional biotech association. Does this mean that we are also automatically a member of BIO?
There are U.S. state and regional biotech organizations. BIO works closely with these organizations and a number of them are actually BIO members. However, membership benefits are not reciprocal with any of these organizations. To enjoy BIO member benefits, your company/organization would need to join BIO.

I have other questions about membership, who do I contact?
Please contact the BIO Marketing and Membership Department at 202-962-9200 and they will be able to assist you further.
