Washington, D.C. (September 4, 2014) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 BIO Investor Forum Buzz of BIO contest, which recognizes highly innovative companies in the biotech sector. Taking place October 7-8, 2014 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, California, the 13th Annual BIO Investor Forum will focus on investment opportunities for early stage and established private companies as well as emerging public companies.

“The Buzz of BIO competition spotlights both early stage companies looking for their next round of financing and late-stage private companies looking to make new and valuable connections,” said Jim Greenwood, BIO President & CEO. “We are pleased to feature such cutting-edge companies as our Buzz of BIO winners and provide them an opportunity to meet potential new partners at our investor events.”

Building on the success of the Buzz of BIO competition at the BIO International Convention, BIO will host a similar competition for the BIO CEO & Investor Conference, February 9-10, 2015 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, New York.

The first Buzz of BIO at the BIO Investor Forum competition featured 18 nominees pulling in over 1,300 votes. The winners are:

Winner: Early Stage Entrepreneurs

BNOAT Oncology, Inc. (Akron, Ohio)

BNOAT Oncology is an oncology research and development company headquartered in Ohio on the Akron Innovation Campus of the University of Akron. BNOAT has the only license to develop cobalamin-based, non-toxic, anti-tumor agents for the imaging and treatment of both human and animal cancers.

Enable Injections is a start-up company that has developed a disposable body-worn bolus injector to deliver high viscosity/volume payloads up to 20cc to the subcutaneous tissue. The system uses standard vial or cartridge container closure, and can automatically mix lyophilized solutions.
