BIO’s Rob Chess to Testify on Patent Issue

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 14, 2005) – Robert B. Chess, executive chairman of San Carlos, Calif.-based Nektar Therapeutics, will testify Thursday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property on behalf of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). The subcommittee hearing is on “The Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute to H.R. 2795, the ‘Patent Act of 2005.’”

When:  Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at 10 a.m.

Where:  2141 Rayburn House Office Building

BIO represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and 31 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.
