Washington, DC and Bangalore, India (June 18, 2008) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and the Association of Biotechnology  Led Enterprises (ABLE), a national forum that represents the Indian biotechnology sector, today announced a two-day annual biotechnology partnering meeting to be held in Hyderabad, India. Similar to BIO’s other partnering meetings, Bio® India will include private, one-on-one meetings between investors, venture capitalists, large pharmaceutical companies and emerging companies.

“India has a thriving biotechnology community and is the ideal location for growing the industry throughout Asia,” said Alan Eisenberg, BIO’s executive vice president of Emerging Companies and Business Development. “Bio® India will encourage and facilitate valuable partnerships and collaborations that ultimately lead to increased innovation within the industry and help bring new therapies to market.”

“We are looking forward to having this world class partnering event in India and working with BIO to make this happen” said Shrikumar Suryanarayan, Director General of ABLE-India.

The meeting will bring together biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from the U.S., Europe and Asia to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.

BIO holds numerous annual partnering meetings around the world, including events in Europe and Asia, designed to offer biotechnology companies opportunities to explore partnerships that will foster continued innovation and growth, both for the company and the industry as a whole.  These investor and partnership meetings are a key example of BIO’s core competency of connecting industry leaders to share strategies to spur development and innovation in biotechnology.
