BIO DONATES $25,000 TO FUND FOR FAMILY OF SLAIN OFFICER DONNA MAUZY

WHEN: Tuesday, June 26, preceding the afternoon session of the
San Diego

City Council meeting.
WHERE: City Council Chambers, 12th Floor, City Administration Building,
202 C Street
WHAT: In a presentation before Mayor Dick Murphy and the San Diego
City Council, Ray Briscuso, executive director of the Biotechnology Industry
Organization and Joe Panetta, president and CEO of BIOCOM/san diego will
present a $25,000 check to San Diego Police Chief David Bejarano in honor
of Officer Donna Mauzy. Mauzy was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday,
June 23. The money will go to the Mauzy Trust Fund established in her honor.
WHY:

As an expression of gratitude for the outstanding performance and professionalism
of the San Diego Police Department during the BIO 2001 conference, BIO
would like to honor Officer Mauzy's memory.
