BIO Members to Receive Shipping Discounts

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Monday, November 22, 2010) - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced today that it will offer its member companies discounts of up to 35 percent on select FedEx services through an alliance with the global transportation company.

“Because of the FedEx reputation for reliability, service and value, as well as its specialized services tailored to fit the unique shipping needs of biotechnology and other life science companies, we are pleased to offer discounts to our members on select FedEx transportation services,” noted Jim Greenwood, BIO President and CEO.  “With capital markets frozen during these uncertain economic ties, biotech companies are looking for ways to be more capital efficient.  BIO’s discount program with FedEx and the other cost-savings program offered through the BIO Business Solutions® program help our member companies nationwide stretch their capital further.”

The BIO program with FedEx offers price reductions on select FedEx services, including FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground®, and FedEx Home Delivery®.  All BIO members are eligible to utilize the BIO program with FedEx.

BIO’s cost-savings program, BIO Business Solutions®, also offers members discounted pricing and special benefits on products and services such as laboratory supplies, business insurance, news distribution services, and pre-owned lab equipment.

In addition to BIO members, many state and regional biotechnology associations have partnered with BIO to offer their members the benefits of the BIO Business Solutions program.
