Washington, D.C. “We are pleased to have Gene come on board as he brings a wealth of experience in state government affairs advocacy and is already familiar with the issues impacting our industry,” stated Patrick Plues, Senior Director, State Government Affairs, Alliance Development & State Government Relations Section.  “I know he will make a great addition to not only the State Government Relations team but to the overall BIO team as well.”

“I’m extremely excited to join BIO’s state government relations team and look forward engaging on the many important biotechnology issues facing the food and agriculture sector,” Harrington said.  “I take great pride in advocating on behalf of such a groundbreaking, lifesaving advancement as GE technology.”

With more than 20 years’ experience in Government Relations, Harrington came from the National Pest Management Association, a leading, 5,500 member trade group for the structural pest management industry.  There he served as Vice President of Government Affairs overseeing NPMA’s Congressional, state and local advocacy efforts.   In October 2014, he was inducted into Pest Management Professional (PMP) Magazine’s Hall of Fame.  Gene has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with emphasis in public relations and minor in government and politics from University of Maryland at College Park.
