CMS Administrator, Greenwood Available for Press Interviews

SAN FRANCISCO (October 19, 2005) – Mark McClellan, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Jim Greenwood, president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, will be available for brief press interviews at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, following the luncheon at the BIO InvestorForum at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

McClellan will deliver the keynote luncheon address Wednesday beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom on the first floor of the hotel. Press interviews will follow at 2 p.m. in the press room (Mendocino Room) on the second floor.

CMS administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with the states to administer Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards. CMS is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

BIO represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations in the United States and 31 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.
