Georgia Governor Perdue to Introduce Session on Venture Capital Investing at BIO VentureForum East

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 4, 2005) -- Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue will welcome conference participants to the Biotechnology Industry Organization's (BIO) VentureForum East Conference to be held in Atlanta, Georgia on May 9-11, 2005. 

The Governor will speak at 8:15am and a plenary session on Venture Capital Investing Trends will follow at 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 10th, in the Windsor Ballroom of the InterContinetal Hotel-Buckhead. 

Russell M. Medford, MD, PhD, will moderate the roundtable session.  Dr. Medford is the President and CEO of AtheroGenics, Inc., and serves as the Chairman of the Georgia BioMedical Partnership.  Leading venture capital investors will discuss the current biotechnology investment climate and identify the critical issues facing biotech CEOs searching for private financing.  Panelists include:


  • John J. Borer III, President and Senior Managing Director, Rodman & Renshaw;
  • Kelly Holman, Founder and Managing Director, Genesys Capital Partners Inc.;
  • Garheng Kong, MD, PhD, General Partner, Intersouth Partners;
  • Deepa Pakianathan, PhD, General Partner, Delphi Ventures;
  • Mark Strobeck, PhD, Principal, SR One.
