Industrial & Environmental
The Section develops biotechnology industry policy on environmental and industrial biotechnology issues, promotes the use of industrial enzymes, conversion of biomass to energy and chemicals and innovative clean up technologies. The Section works closely with the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and international organizations. The Section is active in promoting technologies that promote sustainable development. The Section also is involved with legislative and regulatory issues related to the use of industrial enzymes in manufacturing processes and with environmental biotechnology products used for environmental remediation. Principal federal regulatory agencies: DOE, EPA and USDA.
