Interview with John Swart

In August, 2009, I attended the 7th International Transgenic Animal Research Conference in Tahoe, California. I visited with Dr. John Swart, CEO of Exemplar Genetics, Inc., Sioux Center, IA. Exemplar Genetics capitalizes on the amazing anatomical, physiologic, biochemical and histological similarities between pigs and humans as well as expertise in specific genetic engineering to deliver a reliable model of human disease. Academic scientists, disease foundations, pharmaceutical companies and others in search of solutions to debilitating diseases now have a resource available nowhere else. Dr. Swart is a member of BIO’s Animal Policy Committee.
