Lila Feisee is the Vice President for International Affairs at BIO and has been with the organization since June of 2000. At BIO, Lila is responsible for global regulatory issues affecting the biotechnology industry in key markets and various international forums. Specifically, Lila is responsible for overseeing regulatory harmonization strategies and she represents BIO at the International Council on Harmonization (ICH) and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Regulatory Harmonization Steering Committee (APEC RHSC). Lila is also an ad hoc participant in the World Health Organization’s Expert Committee on Biological Standards.
Also as part of her duties, Lila also oversees all of BIO’s activities in India. These activities include intellectual property protection and enforcement and regulatory issues as well as collaboration mechanisms/commercialization.
Before joining BIO, Lila worked for 10 years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), first as an examiner and later in management and policy development. Her primary areas of expertise in both examination and management are protein engineering, therapeutics, and assays. She also worked at the National Institutes of Health in the National Cancer Institute, Laboratory of Genetics where she isolated and characterized viral and human oncogenes.
