Key Areas of Focus for BIO Experts & Membership

Our staff is focused on ensuring a favorable policy, regulatory, legal, and business environment for our members to thrive in the biobased economy. As a BIO member, you will have a seat at the table and an opportunity to shape and influence policy development in key areas including:

Enabling Technologies and Acceptance

• BIO advocates for and defends access to key enabling biotechnologies like genetic engineering, gene editing, and synthetic biology.

• As a BIO member, you can drive BIO’s strategy development to promote technology acceptance for industry breakthroughs.

Renewable Chemicals

  • BIO is the only global trade association developing renewable chemicals policies. We crafted and championed the introduction of a bipartisan federal tax credit bill that would spur investment and growth in renewable chemical manufacturing, and we are a leader in the development of U.S. Farm Bill energy title programs that drive growth in the biobased economy.

  • As a BIO member, you will have unique opportunities to help develop critical policies at the federal and state level, and network with potential investors, customers, and stakeholders in the renewable chemicals and biobased value chain

Crop Production & Enhancement

  • BIO develops policy and strategies to support biological systems approaches to crop production and enhancement.

  • Whether you are interested in improved crops, agricultural microbials, or other biological-driven farm solutions, as a BIO member, you benefit from our technical expertise and relationships with the U.S. government, international and state leaders, and the food value chain to move industry forward toward common goals.

Food and Feed Inputs

  • BIO has key, trust-based relationships with the food and animal feed sectors and can leverage those relationships to advance industry objectives related to food ingredients, flavorings, processing aids, food enzymes, and food safety.
