2016 BIO Patient and Health Advocacy Summit Starts Today!

November 3, 2016
Today marks the start of the 5th annual BIO Patient and Health Advocacy Summit being held on November 3-4 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The Summit brings together patient advocacy organizations, academia, regulators, biotechnology industry, and other stakeholders for two days of robust programming to discuss timely policy issues and share best practices. With almost 200 different organizations expected to attend this year, the Summit provides an invaluable networking opportunity to advance partnerships among stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.

Just days out from the Presidential election, this year’s keynote will kick off the event with a town-hall style discussion exploring “The 2016 Election and Health Care: Challenges, Opportunities, and What Comes Next.”

Other session topics at this year’s Summit include:

  • The reauthorization of the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA VI) and its implications for the advancement of the science of patient input

  • Emerging legal and regulatory challenges around the incorporation of the patient voice throughout the life cycle of drug development

  • The incorporation of patient perspectives in the development of value frameworks

  • Collaborating with stakeholders in the healthcare system to help inform and shape coverage policies impacting patient communities.
