BIO Investor Forum is Next Week: Oct. 18-19

PartneringOpenNow in its 15th year, the BIO Investor Forum is set for Oct. 18 – Oct. 19 at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.  The event will feature 10 educational panel sessions, three ”fireside chat” interviews with senior executives, more than 170 company presentations, and hundreds of One-on-One Partnering™ meetings. BIO is pleased to announce that four of the 2016 Fiercest Women in Biopharma will be speaking this year:

  • Charlotte Hubbert, PhD, Partner, Gates Foundation Venture Capital will be a panelist for the session: View from the Board: What Do Private Company Investors and Outside Directors Want from Their CEOs? (Tuesday, Oct. 18, 3:00-3:55 PM).

  • Rachel Haurwitz, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Caribou Biosciences, Inc. will participate in a Fireside Chat from 12:30 - 1:25 PM on Wednesday Oct. 19. Rachel is an expert in CRISPR technology.

  • Julia C. Owens, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer, Millendo Therapeutics will be a panelist for the session: Small Biotechs Licensing Assets to Develop from Large-Cap Pharma (Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2:00-2:55 PM).

  • Carole Nuechterlein, Head, Roche Venture Fund will be a panelist for the session: Gene Therapy: Navigating Towards Approvals (Wednesday, Oct. 19, 3:00-3:55 PM).

For the second year in a row, a pre-conference “BIO SPARK Showcase” will provide academic researchers the opportunity to showcase drug development programs that are ready for partnering or venture funding. Twelve start-ups mentored through the SPARK entrepreneur training - which started at Stanford’s School of Medicine and is now taught worldwide - are scheduled to present. The ever popular program, One-on-One Partnering™, is accelerating at a rapid pace. Over 1,300 meetings have already been scheduled with nearly 200 biotech and pharma companies and 160+ investors. Finally, the Buzz Center will be back again featuring industry leaders sharing their perspectives on key industry trends during three to five minute video interviews shared on BIO’s YouTube channel and Twitter.
