Building on the success of the Buzz of BIO competition at the BIO International Convention, BIO recently hosted a similar competition for the upcoming BIO Investor Forum. The first Buzz of BIO at the BIO Investor Forum competition featured 18 nominees pulling in over 1,300 votes. The winners are:

Winner: Early Stage Entrepreneurs

BNOAT Oncology, Inc. (Akron, Ohio)

BNOAT Oncology is an oncology research and development company headquartered in Ohio on the Akron Innovation Campus of the University of Akron. BNOAT has the only license to develop cobalamin-based, non-toxic, anti-tumor agents for the imaging and treatment of both human and animal cancers.

Winner: Late Stage Leaders

Enable Injections (Franklin, Ohio)

Enable Injections is a start-up company that has developed a disposable body-worn bolus injector to deliver high viscosity/volume payloads up to 20cc to the subcutaneous tissue. The system uses standard vial or cartridge container closure, and can automatically mix lyophilized solutions.

"Winning the Late Stage Leaders competition is further acknowledgement that Enable Injections has established itself as one of the leaders in this rapidly expanding market for large-volume body-worn injectors,” said Michael Hooven, CEO & Founder of Enable Injections. “We are excited about this award, and look forward to participating in and presenting at the BIO Investor Forum."

Winners receive one complimentary registration to the BIO Investor Forum, a complimentary Company Presentation and promotion to industry leaders including a spotlight in BioCentury Extra. The typical audience for company presentations features public, institutional and private equity investors, research analysts, investment bankers and industry executives.

Taking place October 7-8 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, this year’s BIO Investor Forum program will include plenary sessions, business roundtables, therapeutic workshops and fireside chats featuring respected industry veterans discussing the latest trends in biotech. The conference also features presentations by over 100 biotech companies poised to join the growth “watch list” in 2015, as well as a number of nonprofit and venture philanthropy organizations.
