Canada's Premier Organization for R&D Will Make its Mark at BIO World Congress

June 10, 2015
BIO is very excited to announce that the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) will be attending our 2015 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology to be held in Montréal, Canada on July 19-22, 2015. The NRC will be participating in several breakout sessions concerning the environmental and economic sustainability of Canadian biomass. BIO is honored to have key leaders from the NRC speak on behalf of this topic in a special breakout session titled Generating More Value from Canadian Biomass and Waste Streams:

But it doesn’t stop there. Research Officer Dr. Minh-Tan Ton-That from NRC’s Industrial Biomaterials program will participate in the Clustered Research and Development of Ag-Based BioProducts breakout session. NRC Technical Officer Jean-Claude Frigon will partake in the Advances in Oil Producing Crops and Algae Based Feedstocks breakout session.

“Industrial biotechnology is a foundational technology for sustainably transforming biomass into renewable energy and products, said Brent Erickson, executive vice president for BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section. “We are fortunate to be able to have access to insight from the Government of Canada’s premier research and technology organization.”

The NRC is just one of many companies and research centers that will be attending this milestone meeting. The BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology is the world's largest industrial biotechnology event for business leaders, investors, and policy makers in biofuels, biobased products, and renewable chemicals. There will be over 1,300 attendees from 680 companies from 45 different countries around the world.
