Philadelphia Declares Monday, May 12 "Declaration of Energy Independence Day"

May 9, 2014
BIO's World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology will be held May 12-15, 2014 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has officially declared Monday, May 12, 2014 as "Declaration of Energy Independence" day!

According to Greenworks, Philadelphia plans on becoming the greenest city in America by 2015.  With that, the mayor has made this proclamation to show the city's support for renewable fuels and the need to shift away from  a reliance on petroleum.  Biofuels help drive American energy independence and contribute to an environmentally friendlier lifestyle.  In fact, US dependence on foreign oil has dropped by 1/3 since 2000 because of biofuels.

Sponsored by Fuels America, help end the oil industry's monopoly by signing the petition and declaring your support for U.S. energy independence:  Don't forget to pass the petition on and let others know that you're helping to make a difference at

Additionally, join Novozymes and BIO  for the "Declaration of Energy Independence" proclamation at Philadelphia City Hall, Monday, May 12 at 9:00am
