February 21, 2018
Registration for the 2018 BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Philadelphia, July 16-18, 2018 is now open! BIO’s World Congress is the world’s largest conference on industrial biotechnology. The event regularly attracts more than 1,000 global business leaders, investors and policy makers from over 30 countries and is the place to source potential collaborations, funding opportunities and find investors.

BIO World Congress offers countless opportunities to showcase companies or technologies and BIO One-on-One PartneringTM helps you drive connections with others in the industry. The program for World Congress will be announced in April, and will feature the latest breakthroughs in gene editing, agricultural crop technology, renewable chemicals and more. Last year the event hosted a record-breaking number of BIO One-on-One Partnering meetings with over 2,100 taking place at the conference.

Also open today, BIO is accepting nominations for the 2018 George Washington Carver Award for Innovation in Industrial Biotechnology and Agriculture. The award recognizes significant contributions by individuals in the field of industrial biotechnology and its application in biological engineering, environmental science, biorefining, renewable chemicals and biobased products. The award is presented annually at the BIO World Congress.

BIO One-one-One Partnering

BIO One-on-One Partnering is the most efficient way to do business in the industrial biotech industry without traveling all over the world. Our business partnering system allows you to communicate directly with prospective biotech investors and senior business and scientific management executives. In the system, you can search companies around the world to source potential collaborations and funding opportunities as well as communicate directly with prospective investors and senior management. You can invite companies and accept invitations to meet, and once your meetings are mutually accepted, BIO does the scheduling, so you can arrive with a plan!

In 2017, The BIO World Congress hosted 2,130 25-minute partnering meetings in just 3 days. That's a 9% increase from our number of meetings held in 2016. We expect these numbers to continue to grow at the 2018 World Congress.

GreenTech Investor Sessions

The BIO GreenTech Investor Sessions provide high visibility to early stage emerging industrial biotechnology companies to present in front of VC investors, analysts, angel investors, and strategists. During the BIO GreenTech Investor Sessions, emerging companies will share their new technologies and value proposition through formal 15-minute presentations to an elite audience. Education Programming

The BIO World Congress helps attendees keep up-to-date on industry trends and issues through three days of robust education programming across multiple venues, including panel sessions, technical presentations and posters. Attendees will learn about cutting-edge industry developments in algae production, renewable chemicals, synthetic biology, gene editing, advanced biofuels, food ingredients, flavours and fragrances, and crop technologies.

Host Region

The tri-state region (Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) ranks as one of the top markets for biotechnology and is home to many startups, making the City of Brotherly Love the ideal location for this year’s World Congress.

Of course, World Congress attendees also have the opportunity to showcase their company at BIO’s world class exhibit hall, a central point for business partnering, networking receptions and visibility for conference sponsors.
