Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the position is to support to the membership team in membership-related outreach and maintenance of accurate member data across the organization. The individual will assist with recruitment and retention activities for various BIO staff, track outreach and maintain database records, and provide support across the team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with annual member outreach, including renewal correspondence and mid-year check-ins, and support Membership Manager with tracking of outreach and status reports.
- Review and process new membership applications.
- Monitor shared inboxes and provide helpful responses to external inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate member data in Salesforce/Fonteva, including company updates, contact updates, and committee rosters.
- Assist with gathering contact and company information using Salesforce/Fonteva and other databases for recruiting and retention purposes.
- Maintain membership team files on internal drives and keep company folders organized and easily accessible.
- Coordinate the development of company background memos for BIO staff to use during recruitment/retention meetings.
- Provide internal staff with membership reporting as needed.
- Manage department expenses and budget.
- Assist with various electronic member communications and marketing outreach as needed.
- Assist with Board Membership Committee as needed, including scheduling, outreach, and meeting minutes.
Required Background and skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-3 years related professional experience
- Experience in membership, fundraising, customer service, and/or marketing.
- Knowledge of life sciences/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with association management system (AMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
- Confident, organized individual with ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive initiatives in a fast-paced setting.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proactive, self-starter that understands the importance of creating positive, working relationships with colleagues, BIO members, and external constituents. Must exhibit a high level of professionalism dealing with senior corporate leaders.
