Currently, more than $3.25 billion in bioscience healthcare capital investment is under construction or awaiting plan approvals. The surge in bio- and life science facilities will add more than 5 million square feet of new facilities and create over 8,000 jobs.

Phoenix’s public and private Institutes of Excellence in bio and life science research collaborate and leverage expertise, knowledge and skills in areas of genomics, precision medicine, new therapy development, molecular profiling, cancer, neuroscience, rare diseases research, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Phoenix is home to the 30-acre Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC) in the heart of its innovation district, the PHX Core in Downtown Phoenix. It is the only location where all 3 of Arizona’s public universities can be found in one place. Arizona State University, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University all have top ranked medical education and research on the PBC. It is home to a number of research institutes – the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) an affiliate of the City of Hope, International Genomics Consortium, NIH NIDDK, and Dignity Health Cancer Institute.

The PBC is also home to private life science leaders such as Exact Sciences, OncoMyx Therapeutics, Calviri, Translational Sciences, FAKnostics, Vidium Animal Health and many more. Phoenix Bioscience High School is a top ranked STEM high school that is located on the PBC. Those on the PBC have access to more than 20 institutes of excellence within 2 miles of the PBC. The newest addition is 850 PBC by Wexford Science + Technology that is designed for companies seeking collaboration and innovation in its 227,000sf lab-enabled space.
