As the COVID‐19 pandemic initially emerged, the narrative was that children were spared and that the focus should be on adults. However, it became clear as the pandemic expanded that children are also severely affected. We must be prepared for future pandemics, and children must be considered differently from adults. To address this urgent need, five premier children’s hospitals, under the leadership of Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, have established the first-of-its-kind National Pediatric Pandemic Coordinating Centers (NPPCC). Join us for a discussion from experts working to stand ready to lead the fight against large‐scale outbreaks of infectious diseases in order to better address the unique needs of the pediatric population and helping preserve the health of our nation’s children.
