IFOM, based in Milan (Italy), is a global scientific powerhouse in oncology research with 300+ scientist from 20+ countries and 30 research labs in Italy, India and Japan.
IFOM scientists lead research in DNA Damage Response, Mechano-Biology (how mechanical perturbations impact tumor cell properties during migration and immune activation), Cancer Cell Metabolism and Ageing/Senescence, applying also synthetic lethality approaches to identify and validate novel target genes. IFOM researchers publish ~120 papers/year with an average impact factor of 10.6. Our Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by Thomas Lindahl, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.
“Understanding cancer. The way to cure it.” is our mission. To rapidly translate our research results in treatments for patients, IFOM relies on 1) its Experimental Therapeutics Program to develop small molecule drug candidates and 2) its Technology Transfer Office to forge partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry and with venture capital funds.
