Jan Walter

Geneva, Switzerland
Jan leads on Intellectual Property (IP) at the UK Mission Geneva and represents the UK in relevant international organizations, in particular the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). He currently also chairs the Group of industrialized countries at WIPO. After spending some time in the private sector early on, Jan moved to the civil service heading a team during the Czech EU Presidency in 2009 and managed the de-listing of the Czech Republic from the US Special 301 Report in 2010. Jan moved to Geneva the same year and worked on IP and international trade policies ever since, also joining the US IVLP in 2011. Before joining the UK Mission, Jan lobbied to improve animal welfare policies in international trade and taught multilateral economic negotiations. Jan has Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Master’s degrees in International Relations and in International Management, studied at the University of Economics in Prague and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
