Dana O'Brien

Dana O’Brien serves as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO).

Dana is a member of BIO’s Senior Leadership Team, facilitating organizational success across departments, enhancing BIO’s internal sustainability portfolio, and promoting cross-sector collaboration on climate and sustainability priorities.

Dana joined BIO in March 2011, serving initially as the chief federal lobbyist for food, agricultural, and environmental matters. In 2016, he began serving as Executive Vice President for Food and Agriculture. He was elevated to his current role in February 2021. Prior to BIO, Dana served as the Legislative Director for the late Congressman Ike Skelton, D-MO, concentrating on agriculture, energy, trade, and foreign policy issue areas. He is a native of Sedalia, Missouri, and a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
