Dr. John S. Lee received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington, and his Doctorate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. During his previous engagement at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), he directed and conducted research involving select agents towards the development of biodefense vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostic assays at biosafety level-2 (ABSL-2), level-3 (ABSL-3), and level-4 (ABSL-4). Dr. Lee also conducted field research as a Principal Investigator for the development and evaluation of arthropod-borne and rodent-borne pathogen diagnostic assays for the detection and conformation of medically relevant viruses, parasites, and bacteria in the field. Dr. Lee is currently the Chief of the Multiplex Diagnostics Branch at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) where he manages Biological Threat, Influenza, and Emerging Infectious Diseases diagnostics projects in the Detection, Diagnostics, and Devices Infrastructure Division (DDDI).
