Dr. Brenda Hefti has more than 18 years of experience negotiating and drafting agreements of all shapes and sizes, including for the government, for an academic medical center, and for biotechnology companies. Currently, she is Vice President, Intellectual Property and Licensing at Exelixis. Brenda manages the legal team that drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates agreements and related documents for the Discovery, Development, Clinical, and CMC functions. She leads licensing negotiations and IP due diligence for the company in cooperation with the Business Development team. Brenda also manages outside counsel for Exelixis in US and international patent prosecution, coordinates trademark and copyright activities for the commercial organization, and develops global patent strategy for the company. Brenda holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a J.D. from Hastings School of the Law.
