Diagnostics for Infectious Diseases

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 ・ 115C, Level 100
Infectious Disease diagnostics face different fiscal pressures, economic considerations, and clinical challenges than vaccines and drugs. What will it take to sustain investment and innovation in this field to ensure that we have the diagnostics capabilities and infrastructure to detect and guide treatment to next infectious disease outbreak? This session will explore those aspects unique to the infectious disease diagnostics industry from the perspectives of funders, developers, and clinicians. Funders will highlight the public health priorities that guide their resource allocation, clinicians their experiences and needs in clinical care of patients, and diagnostic developers the technical challenges and sustainability issues in brining diagnostics to the market.
