Addressing Barriers to Coverage and Access for Pain and Addiction Treatment: Where are We Now?

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 ・ 106AB, Level 100
In the fall of 2018 Congress passed the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act, the second large comprehensive package to address the opioid crisis since the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act. The bill included a number of provisions related to coverage and treatment in pain and addiction. In the session you will hear from patient advocacy organizations, providers, innovative treatment companies, and government officials about how some of the new provisions are working, what else is needed, and how stakeholders across the spectrum can continue to work together to stem the opioid crisis through the right treatment, at the right time, with the right support, without stigma for patients suffering with pain and/or addiction.
