The Immersive Medicine of the Future (IMoF) will bridge the gap between human clinical needs and health care delivery by creating a directly interactive and totally immersive environment. Current developments involve artificial intelligence, spatial computing, smart sensors, machine recognition and modeling of human emotional expression, including the invention of software tools to help people gather, communicate, and express emotional information and to better manage and understand the ways emotion impacts health, social interaction, learning, memory, and behavior of patients and providers in an immersive environment. Our panel of experts will discuss diverse projects: from finding new ways to forecast and prevent disease before there are any outward signs of it; to inventing ways to help people with special needs who face communication, motivation, or emotion regulation challenges; to enabling robots and computers to receive natural emotional feedback to improve human experiences.
