Championing Mental Health for Everyone, Everywhere

12:30 PM - 1:45 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 ・ Room 6B
While infectious disease pandemics have dominated the headlines in the last few months, another epidemic has been growing in scope and impact, affecting people across the world, particularly the youth. Mental illness is one of the leading healthcare challenges of our time, with over 10% of the global population estimated to be living with a mental health disorder[1]. The burden of mental health is high and not well understood, and awareness is low while the problem continues to grow.

Despite the challenges, there has been great progress in mental health, from medicines to anti-stigma initiatives. During this session, we will convene public and private-sector players and NGOs to highlight the interventions that have been effective in promoting, protecting and restoring mental health, and ongoing work to deliver better mental health for everyone, everywhere.
