AACR Project GENIE: Powering Precision Medicine Through an International Consortium and a Pre-Competitive Collaboration With the Biopharmaceutical Industry
AACR Project GENIE is an open-source, international, pancancer registry of real-world data generated through data sharing among 18 leading academic institutions. In 2019, the project launched a pre-competitive collaboration with nine biopharmaceutical companies, which later expanded to ten. The goal of the first phase of the collaboration was to clinically annotate patients within the registry at scale across six major cancer types. A panel of both academic and industry participants will discuss some high-level scientific findings, the value of participating in the collaboration, as well as the ultimate utility of the data along with thoughts on the precompetitive construct as the ultimate “happy medium” of collaboration based on the success of the first phase of the project.
