Solving the Founder/Funder Conundrum to Drive Health Equity and Support Marginalized Communities

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (PDT), Tuesday, June 14, 2022 ・ Upper Level, Session Room 2

Economic marginalization can lead to gaps in access to healthcare and education, income disparities, and unequal opportunities to build wealth across generations. It can also limit the diverse thinking that can lead to innovation within and outside of healthcare. This interactive panel brings together two female entrepreneurs from the Black/Latina community, along with a VC to discuss the gaps in VC funding of Black- and women-led start-ups and the impact of immigrants on developing scientific breakthroughs, new inventions, and business creation. The panel will discuss the sea of change needed to fund and support companies led by under-represented founders to solve long-standing social issues and fuel industrywide innovation.
