Wendy is currently the Early Detection Programme Manager at the Cancer Research Cambridge Centre at Cambridge University, UK. The Centre is a dynamic collaboration of researchers, clinicians, and the pharmaceutical and biotech industries based in the Cambridge area combining world-class science and technology to pioneer new ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer. Wendy has over 20 years of experience in medical diagnostics and drug discovery in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, starting her career as a pharmacologist at GlaxoSmithKline. Since then she has gained extensive expertise in the discovery and validation of biomarkers for the early detection of cancer. She was an integral part of a team launching a CE-marked cancer screening test to the UK market in 2015. Wendy has previously held senior management positions at Abcodia Ltd, Summit plc, PIramed Ltd, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals, UK.
