BIO Launches New and Improved BIO.org Web Site

New Site Stands as Online Voice for BIO and Biotech Industry's Advocacy Efforts

The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO)today announced the launch of the new BIO.org,which includes streamlined navigation for editorial content,a state of the art multimedia site, expanded social media tools and full integration with BIO’s multiblog platform, BIOtechNOW.

“Our new web site was designed to address the information needs of our members, policymakers, industry leaders, consumers, patients and others, while providing online support for our advocacy mission,” said Jim Greenwood, BIO President and CEO. “At BIO, we pride ourselves on delivering timely and relevant information to the industry and the many other communities we serve. Our newly improved web site will help us move the industry forward through improved communication and information sharing.”

The newly revamped site fully integrates all of BIO’s web content from the promotion of BIO’s and other industry events to testimonials, multimedia pieces, publications, speeches, press releases, letters, statements, amicus briefs, fact sheets, reports, and backgrounders. The site also includes full social media tools enabling users to tweet, recommend on Facebook and share on LinkedIn or via email directly from BIO.org.

One of the most significant changes is the well-designed information architecture of BIO.org. With the new modular design, all content resides at the center of the site, rather than in separate folders as the previous website design dictated. Now, the taxonomy drives all the pages and users are linked to other pages, based on their specific search topic. This content pollination allows users to navigate easily through the site and view all related content.

In addition to the complete migration of all existing content, the new BIO.orgfeatures an interactive multimedia library that compiles all audio and video produced content within one webpage. Another improved feature is the content integration. Users will now be directed to “related articles” simply by accessing the pre-populated information on the page.

The site will be updated several times a week, and will keep users “in the know” on BIO’s latest efforts to support the industry and its advocacy activities. Users will be able to navigate easily through the site and find BIO’s position on top issues within the industry through the “Advocacy,” “Areas of Work” and “Industry Intelligence and Advocacy” tabs as well as learn about BIO events and services through the “Conferences and Events” and “Member Services” tabs.
