Registration for the 2014 BIO International Convention Now Open
Washington, D.C. (January 27, 2014) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announces registration for the newly improved 2014 BIO International Convention® is now open. This year’s event will be held June 23-26, 2014 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. The BIO International Convention regularly attracts the biggest names in biotech, offers key networking and partnering opportunities and provides insights and inspiration on major trends affecting the industry.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of registration for the 2014 BIO International Convention. We spent a significant portion of 2013 speaking with our members, Convention attendees and exhibitors on ways BIO could improve this important industry event – and I am excited that we have been able to incorporate so many positive recommendations into the BIO International Convention in San Diego.” said Scott Whitaker, President of the BIO International Convention.
Innovative changes to BIO 2014 include new session formats designed to foster increased audience engagement, increased premium networking opportunities, Specialty Forums featuring new programming and an improved 3 day Convention schedule.
California’s nearly 2,500 biomedical companies and institutions, clustered throughout the state, lead the world in life sciences research and development, which has led to groundbreaking therapies and technologies to diagnose, treat and prevent conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and others. Just as important, the sector is an increasingly significant component of the state’s economic engine, employing nearly 270,000 people, paying $27 billion in wages and accounting for $21 billion in exports annually.
“San Diego is one of the three largest life sciences clusters in the country. By hosting the 2014 BIO International Convention, we will have the opportunity to showcase all that San Diego has to offer as a global leader in the life sciences,” said San Diego Interim Mayor Todd Gloria.
BIO 2014 education sessions will provide opportunities to interact with industry leaders. Specialty Forums and Session tracks will focus on cutting edge topics including digital health, personalized medicine, orphan diseases, regenerative medicine and much more. Each Specialty Forum will culminate with dedicated time for collaboration and networking amongst peers. Additionally, in a new feature added to enhance the program, each session will have the option to offer polling for higher audience interactivity and participation.
