Biotechnology Innovation Organization and Biominas Brasil to Co-Host BIO Latin America Conference

August 3, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. and BELO HORIZONTE, BRAZIL (August 3, 2016) – The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and Biominas Brasil will once again co-host the BIO Latin America Conference on October 26 - 28 at the Grand Hyatt São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil.  The Brazilian Industrial Biotechnology Association (Associação Brasileira de Biotecnologia Industrial or ABBI) will join them as the 2016 Strategic Partner.

“BIO is proud to convene investors, innovators, and institutions from across Latin America as part of our commitment to spur industry growth and speed vital new breakthroughs to market. The BIO Latin America Conference will showcase the region’s progress in becoming a global leader in biotechnology,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood. “At a time when the region faces health and economic challenges, the biotech sector is at the forefront of research to better understand emerging infectious diseases like Zika and remains a strong economic driver of well-paying jobs that will help create new medications, fuels, and agricultural products to improve people’s lives.”

“Biominas looks forward to hosting another successful edition of the BIO Latin America Conference, this time in São Paulo – the business heart of Latin America. Throughout the three days of event, the attendees can expect a rich programming, targeted partnering meetings and an abundance of networking activities. The numerous panel sessions this year will focus on innovation and leverage the extensive business opportunities that we have in Latin America,” said Biominas President & CEO Eduardo Emrich Soares.

BIO Latin America - the industry’s must-attend conference for innovation and collaboration in Latin America’s rapidly-growing biotechnology sector - will bring together executives, researchers, and investors from Latin America and across the globe to discuss trends, navigate industry challenges, conduct partnering meetings, attend company presentations and learn about investment opportunities within this emerging market.

In addition to educational sessions and company presentations with industry thought leaders, the conference will afford attendees the opportunity to arrange meetings between investors, companies, and industry executives via BIO’s One-on-One Partnering™ System. This industry-specific, web-based interactive software enables participants to move efficiently from the identification of prospective partners to discussion and negotiations.
