Primary Purpose
Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) is the world’s largest advocacy association representing member companies, state biotechnology groups, academic and research institutions, and related organizations across the United States and in 30+ countries. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial, and environmental biotechnology products. BIO also produces the BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, along with industry-leading investor and partnering meetings held around the world.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide internal user, device, and application support to BIO staff, and to assist the Director of Network Operations and other BIO IT staff on technology projects
Responsibilities
Help Desk
- Provide Help Desk support to BIO Staff (both in person and virtual)
PC Installation and Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain Intel based laptop hardware and accessories
- Maintain operating system patch levels, antivirus updates, and security patches, via cloud management tools
- Troubleshoot and repair general hardware and operating system problems
- Deploy new and replacement computer equipment to BIO staff
- Primary point of contact to PC hardware support vendors and equipment service companies
Mobile Device Deployment and Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain BIO iPhones, iPads, and other mobile devices
- Maintain inventory of mobile devices through BIO’s MDM solution
- Troubleshoot mobile issues with staff
Software Installation and Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain BIO standard software application suite
- Maintain software license inventory for compliance
- Troubleshoot and diagnose general software problems and issues
Audiovisual Support
- Master BIO internal Audiovisual Systems relating to conference rooms, huddle rooms, and multi-user equipment.
- Assist Facilities teams with teardown/setup of conference rooms
Miscellaneous
- Maintain service agreements for all printers and PC hardware
- Technology support for external BIO events and conferences when needed
Required Background and skills
- Associate degree preferred, High School Diploma required
- TIA A+ or similar certification or equivalent work experience
- Current knowledge of mainstream PC applications and modern operating systems
- Skills should include operating system installations, hardware installation and troubleshooting, application installation, inventory management, and mobile device management
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows Professional operating system
- Familiar with various types of current laptops, hardware, mobile devices, and business software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional and able to instruct employees in its use Good oral and written communication skills
- Initiative for learning new and mastering existing technologies
