Primary Purpose

Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) is the world’s largest advocacy association representing member companies, state biotechnology groups, academic and research institutions, and related organizations across the United States and in 30+ countries. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial, and environmental biotechnology products. BIO also produces the BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, along with industry-leading investor and partnering meetings held around the world.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, plan, and execute a durable data strategy that meets BIO’s business and operational needs, delivers optimal return on investment, and maintains efficiency and security. 

ESSENTIAL Responsibilities

• Collaborates with members of the Senior Leadership Team to identify how internal and external data can be applied to optimize BIO’s business strategy and operations.
• Identifies and implements technology that enables the value-added application of data in relevant timeframes.
• Identifies and implements technology that empowers user success in a self-service model.
• Lead the efforts to elevate data stewardship and care within the organization.
• Work with the Chief Information Officer and Senior Leadership ensure that data analytics and transactional processing become a seamless, integrated continuum of technology.
• Educate Senior Leadership and key internal customers on the topics of data interpretation, access, and analysis.
• Partners closely with leaders across the organization to drive operational excellence through data and create new business opportunities.
• Lead business analysis architecture design and define the integration path of business unit analytic tools and processes
• Oversee and manage various technology services and all system implementations and enhancements, including business requirements development

Required Background, EDUCATION, and skills

• 10 years+ in IT mid to senior level experience
• Hands-on practice and mindset
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree / Master’s preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
• Excellent and proven analytical / data skills
• Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals. 
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent managerial skills 
• Thorough understanding of information technology and information technology systems
