Primary Purpose
The position will lead the strategic efforts to expand and diversify the organizations revenue/profit streams. Currently the organization has 2 significant non-membership profit centers. The first is events and partnering and the second is Bio Business Solutions (BBS – a buying consortium). Partnering (BIO One-on-One Partnering™ system) is the cornerstone of our events, our system is the industry leading B2B SaaS platform that facilitates business development throughout the industry and associated ecosystem. BIO Business Solutions (BBS). BIO Business Solutions is the largest cost savings purchasing program for the life sciences industry. One key aspect of this position will be focused on ensuring the sustainability and growth of these two key profit centers.
The other key aspect of this position will be to identify new / novel profit and growth opportunities. Potential opportunities will include examining potential synergies of partnering with other organizations to identifying untapped / unmet needs in our ecosystem. Creativity and the ability to “connect distant dots of information” are characteristics of a successful applicant.
Responsibilities
- Help sculpt the future of BIO One-on-One Partnering and BIO Business Solutions initiatives by:
- Exploring enhanced customer value propositions
- Geographic expansion
- Building customer base
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform and educate Senior Leadership on capitalizing on emerging market trends and position BIO as a strategic innovation leader in Partnering
- Continuously identify potential novel pathways to organizational financial growth including potential acquisitions and new product/service offerings
- Develop and model compelling business cases and manage all aspects of pilot-testing promising potential pathways
- Develop pricing, deal structure, proposals, and work with associated BIO departments to develop supporting marketing collateral and presentations to drive forward the sale
- Secure appropriate cross-functional and Senior Leadership support for incorporating novel pathways into new product/service offerings
- Manage associated budgets for all new projects
- Provide regular performance updates to BIO Leadership, communicating opportunities and escalating risks when appropriate
- Manage internal and external resources as may be appropriate
Required Background and skills
- Multiple years of product management/ development experience
- Proven track record in business development / revenue production
- 7+ years biotechnology/pharmaceutical business development or market research experience or similar experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or technology-related field, MBA or similar advance degree preferred
- Ability to distill complex technical concepts into accessible language for a variety of audiences
- Proven track record of negotiating and developing win-win scenarios
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong presentation skills to executive audiences
- Proficient at simultaneously managing many different projects
- Strong financial acumen and organizational skills
