2015 BIO International Convention Buzz of BIO Winners Announced

<em>Buzz of BIO Competition Recognizes Highly Innovative Biotech Companies</em></p>

Washington, D.C. (April 30, 2015) – Today, the 2015 BIO International Convention® Buzz of BIO contest winners were announced, recognizing highly innovative companies in the biotech sector. BIO 2015, hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), is the global event for biotechnology – and will take place June 15-18, 2015 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“The Buzz of BIO competition spotlights emerging companies and provides a platform for them to meet potential new investors and partners through their exposure at BIO 2015, which will enable them to bring their product one step closer to helping the patients they aim to serve,” said BIO International Convention President Scott Whitaker. “We are thankful to the thousands of voters and most importantly to all of our nominees for their commitment to building and driving a robust biotech industry.”

Winner: Technologies of Tomorrow

ProTransit Nanotherapy

Located in Nebraska, the company goal of ProTransit Nanotherapy is to explore the core patented technology, Pro-NP™ which has potent antioxidant property, for skincare and other dermal applications. The company is also exploring the use of Pro-NP™ in spinal injury.  Pro-NP™ is biodegradable and biocompatible and can deliver large molecular weight biologically active molecules in a sustained manner. 

Winner: Pipelines of Promise

Vascular BioSciences (VBS)

With locations in California and North Carolina, VBS is a biopharmaceutical and medical device company with a focus on developing solutions for difficult-to-treat cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. The company is currently developing a CARSKNKDC (CAR) peptide to enhance the efficacy of co-administered drugs for fatal diseases. CAR has shown success in improving sepsis mortality, in triple-negative breast cancer, ameliorating cachexia, and in enabling pulmonary specific vasodilation in pulmonary hypertension.
