Webinar Today: Comparative Effectiveness Research

March 26, 2015
As we continue to see new strides in biopharmaceutical innovation, there is increasing value in having more information on how specific treatments affect patients.  This is the intention behind comparative effectiveness research, which can play a critical role in health care decision-making.

Later today, experts will be examining the relationship between comparative effectiveness research and the way health care decisions may be made in the future.  The National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) will be hosting a webinar that will feature, among other respected health leaders, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute executive director Joe Selby, M.D.  The webinar will take place from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., ET.  To participate in the webinar, click here.

During the webinar, NPC will share the results of its annual survey on CER and the environment for health care decision-making.  This is the fifth year in which NPC has solicited the views of those likely to utilize comparative effectiveness research – payers, government officials, academia, and various health care associations – to better understand how this research is valued and considered in health care decision-making.  The NPC survey also illuminates how stakeholders perceive which organizations in both the private and public sectors are playing leading roles in guiding, funding and disseminating health care research.

Given the rapid pace of innovation and the potential on the horizon for breathtaking progress in combating a range of diseases from cancer to Alzheimer’s, we need to understand how information on treatment effectiveness can be utilized.  The NPC webinar will add to our understanding on this subject.
