What: President and CEO of NexSteppe Anna Rath will deliver remarks and will be presented the Rosalind Franklin Award by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) at the 2016 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in San Diego on Tuesday April 19. The Rosalind Franklin Award is presented annually to honor an outstanding woman in the field of industrial biotechnology and bioprocessing.
Background: A special selection committee of scientists and leaders in the field chose Rath for her commitment to the advancement of the field of industrial biotechnology. In 2010, Anna Rath founded NexSteppe to develop and commercialize optimized crops for renewable energy and fuel. In fewer than five years, Anna built NexSteppe to a global team of over 40 people. NextSteppe’s unique technology platform has allowed it to become the leader in bioenergy sorghums, first in Brazil and now globally. Under Rath’s leadership, NexSteppe is laying a foundation for a sustainable and secure future for our economy, our environment, and our energy supply.
