Steve Darnell, PhD

PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST, DNASTAR, INC.
Madison, Wisconsin, United States
Dr. Steve Darnell started his career as a structural biologist and computational biologist at the University of Wisconsin, developing computational models to predict binding hot spots in protein-protein interactions. In 2008 he joined DNASTAR and helped launch Protean 3D, a software application for protein sequence and structure analysis and later spearheaded the development of several integrated applications for protein structure prediction, antibody modeling, and protein-protein docking, including NovaFold AI, protein structure prediction software that utilizes the award-winning AlphaFold 2 method. Most recently, Dr. Darnell has been instrumental in developing a novel in silico antibody discovery pipeline that is rapid, effective, and cost-efficient.
